WAP FAQ

The Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) allows users of mobile phones and other wireless devices to use the Internet. The protocol was developed by the WAP Forum

WML is the WAP equivalent to HTML (HyperText Markup Language). WML stands for Wireless Markup Language. Pages written in WML can be read by a WAP phone or similar device. Since WML is actually an application of XML (eXtensible Markup Language), the syntax is similar. If you have some experience with HTML, you should be able to learn WML easily, as many of the tags are the same. 

We have these mime types installed that allow you to use WAP:

  • .wml

  • .wmlc

  • .wmls

  • .wmlsc

  • .wbmp
